Q & A with Kristen
Q. What do you like best about living here in the Catawba Valley area?
A. What I appreciate most about living in Catawba Valley is its perfect blend of small-city charm and genuine community spirit.
Q. What is your most memorable sale?
A. My most memorable sale thus far involved a senior gentleman who was selling a piece of land with a small lakefront home. The buyers learned he was relying on the proceeds to support himself for the rest of his life. Even though their original offer had already been accepted, the buyers voluntarily gave him well over asking. Witnesses their act of kindness was truly incredible.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A. In my free time, I enjoy competing in dog sports like agility and obedience. I also love landscaping, spending time with my family, and embracing all the beauty life has to offer.
Q. What would you be doing if you were not helping people buy or sell homes?
A. I truly can’t imagine doing anything else- helping people buy and sell homes is truly my passion. Real estate is where I belong.
Q. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
A. If I ever won the lottery, I would buy land and start a small farm with horses, a donkey, some goats and little cows. My personal chef would have to learn all my mother’s recipes. I’d make sure my loved ones were taken care of, and I’d dedicate my time and resources to animal shelters.
Q. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
A. If I could learn anything in this very moment, I’d be fluent in every language on this planet, so I could communicate with everyone.
Q. What do you love most about your job?
A. What I love most about my career is when my clients are happy and they let me know by writing a 5-star review! It’s a great feeling when they call me back to help them again. It makes me feel like I am making a difference for the people in my community.
Q. What is a dream that you want to make come true one day?
A. If I could, I would stop all the suffering of all humans and animals in the world.
Q. Who are some of your biggest influences?
A. What made me the person I am today is derivative of a few factors. My Catholic school education is something I have always been grateful for. Catholic school provided the foundation of structure and discipline, as well as a top-notch curriculum- all of which has been the benchmark of my success. Also, I feel as though traveling the world while serving in the Air Force shaped me into an open-minded, tolerant person who understands different cultures and backgrounds.
Q. Where do you see yourself in five years?
A. In 5 years, I will still be happy and healthy!
Q. What’s your favorite type of food or cuisine?
A. My favorite food is my mother’s homemade St. Patrick’s Day boiled dinner!
Q. If you could pick any superpower, what would it be?
A. If I could choose a Superpower, I’d have the ability to get rid of all bigotry and hate in the world.
Q. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
A. The Bahamas is at the top of my travel list because it’s beautiful with warm, crystal-clear water and the quick flight time makes it even more appealing.
Q. What is something no one knows about you?
A. Most people don’t know I used to compete in horse shows. One of my most memorable experiences was training a racehorse fresh off the track. She was wild and had a reputation of throwing her owner. I worked with her for a couple of years, eventually winning 1st place in competition. Her owner then decided to sell her, and we delivered Moon Dance to her new forever home, he handed me a stack of cash and said, “I couldn’t have sold her without you.” That’s how I bought my first car.
Q. What’s your favorite company/ business/ organization in town or nearby? Why?
A. Frosty and I love being a part of the Catawba Valley Obedience Club. We attend every week, and after training, Frosty gets to play with his besties. It’s more than just a club; it’s a place where I feel supported and surrounded by people who share a common love for dogs.
